Don’t spend a ton of time doing your hair when the weather is hot outside, summer hair should be easy!
But that doesn’t mean you have to settle for zero style. It doesn’t take long to pull incredibly cute summer styles. From an easy-breezy blowout to a no-fuss bun, here are my favorite perfectly imperfect looks for Summer 2013.
Looking for a way to tame out-of-control summer hair? Try a top knot! It’s dressy enough for the office yet relaxed enough to wear to a Pilates class.
This updo works great on day-old hair—the built-up natural oils allow for a better hold. A little hair spray for frizz control is the perfect thing to top and hold in place.
Pull hair into a high ponytail, and secure it with an elastic band. How tight or loose you secure the band is up to you. That’s what’s great about this look it always looks good and is simple to do.Then divide your ponytail into four equal sections. Grabbing one section at a time, wrap each one around the base of the hair elastic, alternating between clockwise and counterclockwise directions. Secure with a bobby pin. A shot of hair spray finishes the look, but be careful not to use too much. You don't want this look to apear stiff.
At Home Blowouts
Perfectly straight blowouts are out! A laid-back look with a little movement and life to it is sexier and much easier. Of course it makes more sense to go to the salon or a blow out bar but sometimes there just isn't enough time or when traveling it hard to find a place you can trust. So when in a crunch, I reccemnd trying this at home.
After shampooing, spray the crown area with a volume spray. Such as Sebastian Volupt Spray. Then add a lightweight mousse to your roots, distributing extra through the ends. I reccomend a little of the Bumble and Bumble Conscious Holding Foam.
Turn your head upside down, blow-dry your hair until it’s 50% dry, then section your hair with clips. Beginning with the section closest to the nape of your neck, run a round brush down your hair, curling the ends. It takes a few times to get this look perfected but I believe its easy enough and can be perfected at home.
Flirty Fishtail Braid
This is the perfect style to rock if you're hanging out by the shore, since the salty air will give your strands great texture for braiding. If you're not near the beach, you can fake that texture by misting Surf Spray through damp strands and letting hair air-dry.
Then do a fishtail braid: Divide your hair in half, and hold the left side in your left hand and right side in your right hand. Pull a half-inch section of hair from the outside of the right side and add it to the inside of the left side. Repeat with a piece from the outside of the left side, adding it to the inside of the right side. Continue adding half-inch pieces down to your ends, and secure with an elastic. Position the braid over your shoulder, then tug out a few pieces around your face for a breezy effect (or just let the wind do its thing).
Embrace your inner slacker and opt for this style when you've just rolled out of bed. If your hair's too clean, it will be slippery and won't have enough grip. If you've just shampooed, rub some mousse into dry roots to get some gritty (in a good way) texture. Try something that doesn't have too much hold. Next, use a comb to tease strands around the crown to build volume. Make a side part, and sweep back the top half of your hair. Push the section up slightly to form a small bump before securing with bobby pins. Brush strands to smooth out weird pieces, but don't make it perfect. It should look a little rough but simple and very sexy.
